"Okay, finally after sixteen months, another rant. This first part is about software developers. Why is it that the “upgrades” that are supposed to make things easier are either redundant (sometimes several times over) or just stupid? Why does Microsoft have four or five links over on the left-hand side of the page that just take you to different tabs in the same pop-up box? Why do I now have to go down 18 levels to get to something that I used to have to just right-click and choose my new option? Are these software places like one of my former employers where they make you write out goals at the beginning of the year to justify your job? Change this, improve that, but in the end, it’s just more confusing and convoluted than it was to begin with. The second part is about youth in general being allowed to take over the ordering and arrangement for stores. I used to be able to go into a store to the movie section and they had them stocked alphabetical by title. There might be a few general categories – comedy, drama, horror, etc. But now, they have some off-the-wall system of categorizing movies or books that I just can’t understand. And I go to the grocery store and look for sugar free chocolate fudge pudding, for instance. They have six rows of sugar free chocolate pudding. One row of the chocolate fudge. The chocolate fudge row is empty, but the chocolate has only two boxes removed from one row. When I ask about it, they tell me that they don’t stock the chocolate fudge because it doesn’t sell as much. Duh!!!! Maybe it doesn’t sell because the pimply-faced kid that orders for that department doesn’t order it?" Sheesh.

Last week I saw a bit of video on annoying Christmas songs. The guy was saying that Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” was the worst. I actually love that song. It’s fun. And what’s more, I love how she sounds so desperate in it. It’s the only Mariah Carey song I like because it’s the only one where she doesn’t do her wailing banshee routine. (Jeez, die already. Don’t make us suffer with you!) The song that I think is the dumbest (yes, there are a lot of them out there, but this is the one that gets me every time I hear it) is “Do You Hear What I Hear”. Doesn’t matter who does it. The lyrics are stupid. A Child, A Child Shivers in the cold Let us bring him silver and gold. Get real guys. Baby Jesus is freezing his holy little buns off and you’re going to bring him freaking cold metals???? Bring a blanket or a sheepskin or something. Sheesh.
